4D Ultrasound
Today is Wednesday, June 18. We’re at 26 weeks and 6 days. Last week, we had a check up ultrasound. We found out that the baby is larger than average by nearly a pound!! The doctor says that’s just fine and he thinks the baby looks great, but it certainly explains Crisi’s ever-growing belly.
In more exciting news, Crisi and I took the opportunity to have a 3D/4D Ultrasound done of our baby Jellybean. Don’t ask me what the fourth dimension is, but it was hecka cool!! We were also able to have both Cris’s and my mom join in on the fun. He doesn’t just look like a faceless blob of fetus anymore – he’s our baby boy, with a face and a personality. He kept kicking the ultrasound probe on Crisi’s belly and insisted on putting his hands and feet in front of his face when we were trying to take his picture. We also saw him sucking on his hands, making all kinds of faces and squirming around to get more comfy. I have some video that I’m hoping to have posted in the next day or two. In the mean time, enjoy some of the best pictures of the Jellybean.
ps. As a note of explanation, what looks like dark hair on his head is not actually hair. He does have hair – we’ve seen it on both the standard and 4D ultrasounds, but it looks different and is not seen in these images. To get these images, the ultrasound generates sound waves that reach a specific depth. The black areas represent stuff that is out of focus or deeper than the sound waves are penetrating – like where his skull bones are sloping back. The widow’s peak “hairline” is actually where his two skull plates come together. A little bit further beyond that, in the black area, is where his soft spot will form. -Trav

Today is June 5, and we are at the 25 Week mark. The baby is doing well and growing fast. He’s kicking up a storm and we can feel him easily on the outside of the belly. We are into the nursery decoration now. We have our furniture and the crib should be showing up today. But we still have to pick out the colors and get the room painted. Everything is moving pretty quick now! Here’s a picture of Cris’ belly.
We hope you are all well. – Travis and Cris

We’ve hit a new landmark with the jellybean – he’s kicking away at mommy now. It took a while for me to feel him because of the position of my placenta, but he’s making up for lost time now. Travis even felt him Saturday morning. It was a little disarming…I was just laying down and started feeling these little spasms every once in a while. It took me a little while to finally put together what I was feeling. ( I even had to call my mom for confirmation.) And, of course, my belly is growing everyday. It seems that I’m hungry all the time, and while sometimes I just need a snack, sometimes I eat more food in one sitting than I ever thought possible! The Florida heat is starting to get to me a little bit when I’m out and about, but so far I’m handling it ok. So far, the whole pregnancy has been going great!
Over Memorial Day weekend, we celebrated Trav’s sister Makaela’s 30th birthday. We headed over to Trav’s Mom’s house on Sunday for dinner, presents and cake. Makaela is also preggers (about 30 weeks) and we got some great pictures of all of us, including her adorable 3 year old, Lucas. We hope you’re all doing great and we’d love to hear from you. Take care!

Hi Everyone,
Cris and I went in for the Week 18 ultrasound. The baby is getting much larger and we could see a lot more definition on the ultrasound. Almost immediately the baby kicked it’s legs up in the air and showed us his little package. There wasn’t any mistaking what we were looking at and the sonogram tech confirmed the baby was a boy!
I’ve added some pictures of Mom’s belly. (The ultrasound pictures are giving me some issues. I’ll get them up later.) I’ll hopefully have the ultrasound video up this weekend with some annotation to let everyone know what they’e looking at.
Cris is doing well without too much sickness these days. A lot of indigestion, but we’re working with the doctor on that.
And tonight we’re practicing our parenting skills by babysitting our neighbor’s five month old.
We miss you all,
Trav
